Stones & Back
Walk Leader: Ian
Number on walk: 10
Distance: 10 miles
Weather: Afternoon rain which cleared
We set off through Oldfield and West House Farm before dropping down to Long Bridge which is a grade 2 listed building. We then climbed up to Haworth, home to the famous Bronte sisters. We walked down the cobbled main street stopping for a deserved coffee / tea break.
We left Haworth climbing up to the trig point on Penistone Hill. From here we set off south to Stones, a narrow strip of open access land, where we stopped for lunch. When we set off it started to rain so it was time for waterproofs! We passed Leeshaw Reservoir as we climbed up to Haworth Moor. We crossed the moor which was pretty tough going as there is no path to follow and the heather had a lot of new growth so was very thick.
We then joined the Millenium Way which was followed back to our cars via Bronte Bridge.
Whilst we did have rain the weather was much better than was expected.
