From Sedbergh, walked up Howgill Lane, then path up to Winder and on to Arant Haw.  Descended via Bland and through Birkhow farm to rejoin Howgill Lane. Passed through Thwaite, with Holy Trinity Church and (working) telephone box.  Crossed Chapel Beck and joined Dales Way via Beckfoot and Crook of Lune farms, then headed south along the River Lune.  Riverside lunch stop.  Crossed the Lune using Fisherman’s bridge (destroyed during Storm Desmond and re-built in 2018).  Climbed, following the Sedbergh Quaker Trail, and crossing the route of the old Ingleton-Tebay railway line, to the minor road marking the boundary of the (extended)  YDNP.  Visited Fox’s Pulpit (the rock from which George Fox preached to some 1,000 people in 1652, supposedly marking the start of the Quaker movement).  Descended via Hawkrigg Wood to rejoin the Dales Way at Lincoln’s Inn Bridge.  Followed the Dales Way back to Sedbergh, the latter stage alongside the River Rawthey.  Good views en route of the Lowgill and Lune viaducts.
