Winter Hill

Walk Leader: Steve Clark

Number on walk: 10

Distance: 11.25 miles

Weather: Mainly dry with outbreaks of sunshine

We met at Moss Bank Park, 10 people and 3 dogs.  A rain shower in the car park had some of us putting on overtrousers only to strip them off within the first mile.  The rest of the day stayed dry with outbreaks of welcome sunshine.  Somewhat blowy at the top of the big hill but easy enough to cope with.

Our route took us up past Walker Fold and along Burnt Edge, then picking up the access road Winter Hill was ascended to the TV mast.  Dropping down to the San Marino on the other side of Winter Hill, we then made our way south down Langworth Clough, stopping for lunch by the river at the site of a weir.  We concluded the walk over Dunscar golf course and by Smithhills Hall to emerge once more into Moss Bank Park at 2 45pm.

We covered 11.25 miles and 420 metres of ascent.
