Hebden & Grassington Moors

Walk Leader: Ian Wardle

Number on walk: 6

Distance: 15 miles

Weather: There was very light drizzle when we set off which cleared very quickly.

We set off following the river Wharfe to Hebden where we stopped for a very enjoyable coffee and cake break. From here we climbed up to Scar Top House to join the moorland. We skirted Mossy Moor Reservoir on our way across Hebden Moor. There were great views from here down onto Grimwith Resevoir.

We then followed Blea Beck up to the mine workings where we stopped for our lunch. It was then off to visit the chimney and flues of the workings with their very informative information boards.

We then cut across Grassington Moor to Gill House before climbing up to Bare House. It was then on to join the Dales Way which we followed back to Grassington.

A most enjoyable days walking with a great bunch of walkers and well done to Sue for opting to go for car share. Just shows how easy it is.
