RIVINGTON

Tuesday 19th. February 2013 - Walk from Rivington.

Tuesday walks from Rivington always attract good numbers and today was no exception. John, our walk leader, having promised us a low level route, led our group of 18 away from the West Pennine Moors, along the east side of the Lower Rivington reservoir and out towards Blackrod. He'd also promised us, in places, a muddy walk but to our relief the dry east winds, that had been blowing for the past few days, had dried the the ground and it wasn't bad at all.

With a Tartan flavour we continued through Little Scotland and past Aberdeen, before joining the Leeds/Liverpool canal near Wigan Golf Club. We then headed north along the towpath for a couple of miles or so, before turning east to join the paths alongside Anglezarke and Upper Rivington Reservoirs and back to our cars.

We all enjoyed a lovely sunny day and a walk of a little over 11 miles.

Thanks John.
