Social Walk Tuesday 12th March

Walk Leaders:     Karen and Ian

Number on walk: 20

Distance:             Morning 6.5 miles afternoon 6 miles

Weather:             Rain in the morning with blue sky in the afternoon.

We set off from Curley’s in rain, climbing steadily past the Monscliffe Stone quarry up onto Adam Hill. We then walked through Holden’s Plantation and up to Dean Mills reservoir. By now the rain had eased and the cloud had lifted slightly and whilst there were some views to be had the towers on Winter Hill could not be seen.

We dropped from the reservoir past Chadwick’s Close Farm where there is a Ferrari on view under glass!

We continued to drop through Walker Fold Woods where we all stopped for a group shot on the bridge.

It was then a steady climb over Burnt Edge back to the quarry from where it was all downhill back to Curley’s where we stopped for our pre ordered food lunch. We had a good lunch and whilst most decided to call it a day once they had eaten, four went on to do the 6 mile afternoon walk up to Two Lads. By now the weather was completely different with bright blue sky and clear views.

It was good to see everyone.
