Walk from Walloper Well

Tuesday Walk from Walloper Well car park, January 14th.

A nippy but bright morning saw 17 members of the group set off to tackle the ‘paddy fields’ of the Ribble Valley which our leader had warned us were very wet and muddy. How right she was!

We went out down Bradford Fell and Moor Lane, past Seedall’s Farm, slithered our way through some ‘paddy fields’ and down Whinny Lane to emerge after another muddy mile or so at St. Helens Church, Waddington, which was to be our lunch stop. Pauline pointed out the first snowdrops, just a few very small ones but hopefully a sign that spring might, just might, be on the way!

After lunch it was mostly all uphill back to the car park through a caravan park and round Simpshey  Hill before taking the track alongside Grindleton Fell before heading over Tagglesmire  and back to the cars.

Pity about the mud – in summer, in dry conditions, it would be a very nice walk indeed. Thanks to Chris for taking over from Jeff who is injured at present.
