Walk leader- John Clarke.

Number walking- 13.

Weather- dry but overcast and windy in places. Distance 10 miles.

This walk commenced at 10.00 from the car park of the Royal Hotel in Tockholes. The group initially dropped down through the delightful Roddlesworth Woods to the River Roddlesworth itself. The valley cut by the river was generally followed through Slipper Low to the A675 Bolton Road. Here the group crossed and began the climb to the summit of Great Hill where a very noticeable drop in temperature was noted after the shelter of the woods. After successfully reaching the summit where a short break was taken the group descended generally towards White Coppice. Upon reaching the main junction where the path splits the group remained on the major path towards Brinscall.

The group remained on this path, eventually joining the upper section of Well Lane, before descending through Brinscall plantation to the Goit and the lunch stop by the side of the old mill lodge at the rear of Brinscall baths.

After a lunch which had been shared with a large number of ducks and gulls the group picked up the nature reserve path which runs along the now disused Chorley to Blackburn railway. This was followed to Abbey Village, where after passing through the village, the group headed along the lane past Rake Brook Reservoir to Lower Roddlesworth Reservoir where they joined the path along its southern shoreline to the Upper Roddlesworth Reservoir.

After passing this Reservoir the group dropped down into the stunning wooded gorge formed by the River Roddlesworth, before eventually ascending back through the woods to the start point.
