Cuerden Valley Walk

Cuerden Valley Walk.

There is a wealth of good walking in our area, through pleasant and interesting scenery and places. The problem is during spells of wet winter weather, fields can get very muddy and compromises have to be made. That was the case today.

Starting from Cuerden Valley we headed out through Whittle-le-Woods, over Denham Hill, then down to and along the Leeds/Liverpool Canal to our lunch break at one of the many canal bridges.

Lunch over we left the canal and made our way across fields, some wet some relatively dry, to the attractive little village of Brindle. Continuing our walk, again on field paths, we passed through Holt Lane Farm to Thorpe Green. Field walking over, we made our way down to an underpass below the M61 to Clayton Brook and finally back to our cars in Cuerden Valley.

Fortunately the weather was fine and bright throughout and our group of 20 members and 6 dogs all appeared to enjoy their 10 mile walk.
