The Kingfisher Walk Tuesday 15th Feb
Walk Leader: Hilary Bell
Number on walk: 14
Distance: 12miles
Weather: Dry, mild, no rain and no wind
The weather was perfect for the 14 people and 4 dogs on the 12mile walk from Dole Lane Abbey Village starting at 10.00hrs.
Usually when this route is walked a kingfisher is seen on the Leeds and Liverpool canal and at the Heapy reservoirs. Sadly not today other than a photo shown at the start. We had a coffee and photo stop at the Ollerton Fold canal bridge and took a moment to reflect on our memories with Jeff…..Lunch on the benches at the locks behind the Top Lock pub.
The Route. Dole Lane Abbey Village - Gortons - Lark Hill - Ollerton Fold - Leeds and Liverpool canal to Malt House pub - Cross A674 to B6228 and footpath to the woods and towards the 3 Heapy reservoirs - White Coppice - The Goit - Brinscall - Nature Trail - Abbey Village.
Thanks for a great day everyone,
Hilary Bell
