OUT ON THE MOORS

OUT  ON  THE  MOORS  28  JULY

10 people turned up on a windy Saturday for this walk led by Glenn Williams.

We set off on the Pendle Way which we followed under Boulsworth Hill, picked up the Bronte Way to Watersheddles reservoir where we had our first stop of the day sheltering from the increasing wind behind a wall.

Continuing on the Bronte Way we then changed to the Pennine Way past Ponden Hall and on to Top Withens where we stopped for lunch. The weather, apart from the wind, was lovely and sunny and the views all around were excellent.

Another way, the Pennine bridleway, was used to get us to Gorple Upper reservoir and a coffee stop before heading off over rough moorland to eventually meet up with the road and yet another way, the Burnley Way, which we followed for about a mile all downhill.

We could see the cars parked at the top of the hill and a real sting in the tail on the Pennine Bridleway, which fortunately had a few zig-zags in it, and we arrived back at the cars about 4.20pm.
