The Walk:-

Walk leader - Karen Wardle

Number on walk - 28

Distance 11.5 miles

Weather - Sunny almost throughout. A lovely winter's day.

The route started at Brindle village hall with a group photograph and a look at the cuckoo weathervane. We crossed four fields which were quite dry in places, the number of stiles did hamper progress, however we managed to re-group at various stages, with the back markers doing an excellent job.

The first destination was the Leeds/Liverpool canal at Withnell Fold, which was originally a community working for the paper mill, which is now split into  working  units.

From here we made our way, via Oakmere Ave to view a mature reindeer, complete with antlers, before proceeding to the outskirts of Brinscall, before taking the road up to the moors, ultimately leading to Solomon’s Temple.  A group photograph was taken.

The moors footpath took the group to White Coppice where we took advantage of the cricket pavilion for lunch.

We followed the Goit to Brinscall Hall then followed a track to Harbour Lane.  We crossed the road and followed a track via the golf course to the A674.

The farm track by the Golden Lion took the group down to the canal and from there ‘the dell’ and path lead back to Brindle.

A very enjoyable day, thank you!

Karen.

Thanks Karen for leading an enjoyable walk, writing this report and for getting he weather spot on.
