Leaving Abbey Village we crossed some very muddy fields as we climbed to reach Tockholes. From here the going was much better as we followed well defined paths up to Darwen Tower. We stopped here for a deserved lunch break which was made short due to the very cold winds.  We dropped from here to Slipper Lowe then on past Roddlesworth reservoirs back to Abbey Village.

After such an enjoyable walk it was good to get back to the warmth of the Hare and Hounds pub for our drinks.
