Downham and the river Ribble

Distance: 11 miles

Weather: Cool but dry with sunny periods and a light wind.

 

The route left Downham in the direction of Pendle Hill, up to Lane Head. It then veered off towards Twiston, and then on to Twiston Mill. From there the route went to Downham Bridge and then on to Sawley. The Ribble Way was followed to Grindleton, and on to Chatburn. From Chatburn, back in the direction of Downham Bridge before turning back towards Downham village.

LDWA Walks

The LDWA organises many challenge events and local group social walks, as well as listing many more organised by other organisations. Challenge events are normally between 20 and 100 miles and must generally be completed within a defined time limit. Social walks are normally led walks of around 20 miles.
