The Walk.

Walk leader:- David Whittaker.

The walk started from the beautiful village of Wiswell, the home of Ken Beardsworth’s favourite pub the Freemasons Arms.  Parking is very limited in the village but with much car sharing and some parking a mile or so away there was no problem.

The forecast was very good and the weather was even better than expected being dry and relatively mild.  Nineteen members and two dogs set off on to Wiswell Moor passing close to the radio mast.  Turning left onto the farm track we walked towards the Nick of Pendle where we crossed Clitheroe Road.  We walked close to Churn Clough Reservoir and up Spence Moor past the site of the old Deerstones Quarry where Dave Taylor related a story of the “Devil’s Footprint” being in the quarry.

After lunch just above Cock Clough Plantation we walked through Sabden Fold passing close to the restored Stainscomb Hall, then Dean Farm before walking through Sabden village.  We walked past Higher Whins back to Wiswell Moor where we retraced our steps to Moor Side Lane.

A very pleasant walk of 10.5 miles which was enjoyed by all.

Thanks a lot David for leading an excellent walk (bit muddy in places but we can't control the weather) and thanks for this walk report.
