Walk from Sedgewick, Tuesday March 10th

After our customary group photo, 12 walkers set out from the small village of Sedgwick in lovely morning sunshine.  We followed the course of an old canal, to bypass Natland, and reach the trig point on The Helm.  There were great views westward towards Kendal and out to the Lakes and Morecambe Bay.  We then dropped down eastwards to follow paths and lanes to Hill Top, an old school but now a private house, for a morning break in the sunshine.  We continued via New Hutton and out to Lambrigg Fell for lunch tucked under a wall out of the wind.  The views were excellent in all directions as we continued along the ridge to the trig point above Killington Lake. From here we could see much of the route of our outward journey.  It was then a descent to Eskrigg and across fields, through Halfpenny, to the route of the old canal back to Sedgwick.
The walk, of just over 20miles, fell on a day of great spring weather with lots of sunshine.  How lucky are we?!!  It was an excellent day out in a very quiet and beautiful area.
