40th ANNIVERSARY WALK

40th Anniversary walk   18  August

The weather was good after plenty of rain in the previous few days and we set out along the Ribble Way to Brungerley bridge and from there headed through fields (the one filled with wheat was hard work as it kept pulling the laces undone) and over Easington Fell to eventually reach Slaidburn.

From there we walked up the valley using an old Halloween Happening route through all the various Harrops ( Harrop Lodge is still as bad as it ever was- paths blocked with ancient farm machinery, nettles and god knows what!) to Swan Barn  and up through the forests which have now been cleared.

The final 3 miles were mostly downhill on good tracks and we arrived back at Chatburn at 5pm and, although our feet were wet and had been all day, the weather held and was glorious in the afternoon.
