David's Walk Tuesday 23rd May

Walk Leader: David Whittaker

Distance: 10 miles

In beautiful weather 25 walkers set off from Hollins Lane where they passed Haworth Art Gallery which houses the world famous collection of Tiffany Glass.  They followed the route of the disused Accrington to Manchester railway line which they left to pass above Baxenden Company and the Hollands Pies plant.   They made their way to Roundhill Lane where they joined Rossendale Way which they followed for four miles.  Skirting Thirteen Stone Hill and Haslingden Moor they walked above Jamestone Quarry at Haslingden.  Crossing over Oswaldtwistle Moor they walked near the twelve massive wind turbines which dominate the moor.  From there they walked along Hoyle Bottom and made their way through the hamlet of Bedlam past the former Red Lion pub.  They returned to Hollins Lane where they enjoyed tea and biscuits and other refreshments provided by Beverley.
