10 turned up to walk the Spanners round on what was a cloudy but dry day. We set off from Jumbles reservoir to join the Witton Weavers Way past Wayoh reservoir. After a quick visit of Turton & Entwistle reservoir we climbed steadily up to the trig point on Hog Lowe Pike. By now the footpaths had become extremely difficult to walk as they were so muddy which meant we were sliding all over the place! We then dropped to join the Rossendale Way passing Calf Hey reservoir and Ogden reservoir before stopping at some ruins for lunch. We continued on the Rossendale Way round to the Pilgrims Cross on Holcome Moor. From here we continued on to Peel Tower where we stopped for a short break, not only to replenish our stomachs, but to give our legs a rest: this really was tough going.  From here there was a very steep drop through some woods before following predominantly field footpaths back to Jumbles.

The day ended splendidly with tea and cakes provided by our walk leader, Kath, in the boat house. Everyone enjoyed the walk and the tea and cake!
