Tuesday walk from Rowley Lake

With the prospect of a fine, sunny day ahead 12 group members arrived for the start of this Tuesday walk from the Rowley Lake car park.  Such was the forecast that our leader, Glenn, and 3 others turned up in shorts – the first time this year!

Good paths through Brun Forest Park led us to the suburbs of Harle Syke, passing Nelson golf course and descending, on the Pendle Way, to Walverden reservoir. Continuing on the Pendle Way we came to the small hamlet of Catlow and a pleasant walk following Catlow brook brought us to our lunch stop at Coldwell Activity Centre. How nice it was to sit in warm sunshine without the threat of rain or the howling winds we have had so much of lately!

All too soon it seemed Glenn called time and we set off again, crossing Deerstone Moor and continuing, this time on a section of the Brontё Way, to the Thursden Valley, crossing Lee Green reservoir and picking up, once again, the Burnley Way to finish a bit later than usual at 3.15pm. after a 12 mile walk which made good use of the many ‘ways’ in this area.
