Walk from Crookfield Rd.

Once again a beautiful clear sunny morning for this 10 mile walk, from Crookfield Road car park near the village of Tockholes. Easy walking to start with on the the track along Catherine Edge, to the village of Turton. Here we headed uphill to the fine viewpoint on the edge of the moorland crossing of Cheetham Close. Recent rain had made the way wet in places, but as we were under clear skies who cared as we headed downwards to our lunch stop, on the embankment of Entwistle Reservoir.

Lunch over, we ascended through woodland to join the track up to Cadshaw. Here we crossed the busy A666 and continued gradually uphill over Darwen Moor, before dropping down again to our cars. The crossing of the Moor wasn't without incident, as our two good Samaritans, John C and John T rescued a very distressed injured sheep trapped beside a fence.

Yet another lovely walk to add to our list. Thanks a lot John.
