NABS HEAD

Tuesday 13th August – Nabs Head

On overcast drizzly day saw 14 walkers and 2 dogs set off from Nabs Head Pub, Nabs Head Village, across fields to Hoolster Farm, then to Alum Scar Lane through Alum House Wood  up to Billinge End Road, turning right onto the Witton Weavers Way.

Eventually passing Lower Park Farm into Hoghton Bottoms, turning sharp right at Grassdale Cottage up to Bolton Hall, along the River Darwen, here it started to rain heavy so we decided to have an early lunch stop, sheltering under the trees, eventually the rain stopped as we started off again, the rest of the day was fine, coming out at Stanley Grange across the fields to Beeston Wood near Coupe Green.

Turning back to Fleetwood Farm, Paradise Wood and reservoir, drinks stop here! then across a very bad field where the farmer had fenced off the path with barbed wire, but we managed it in the end, coming out at Cardwells Farm onto Green Lane along to Samlesbury Bottom up to the Nabs Head, a quick pint for some, a very good interesting walk was had by all.

Thanks to Terry for an excellent walk.
