RAWTHEY BRIDGE

                        Thursday 11th. July 13 - Rawthey Bridge

Another very hot day as Sue led us from Rawthey Bridge, on a walk she promised to be not for the faint hearted. True to her word we were soon criss - crossing the bed of the Rawthey and scrambling up waterfalls as we followed it to it's source.

The source of the Rawthey is near the summit of Baugh Fell, which is where we took a welcome break for lunch. How often does the weather allow one to sit there in comfort dressed only in shorts and 'T' shirts?

After lunch we headed down Ringing Keld Gutter to Dovecote Gill and, more easily this time, crossed the Rawthey at Straight Bridge. We then followed the bridle path below the Howgills to Cautley Beck and up past Narthwaite and back to our cars.

Thanks Sue for a tough, but varied and interesting 15 mile walk.
