COWAN BRIDGE

                                                 COWAN  BRIDGE  -  4  JUNE

Sue Allonby lead  a great walk from Cowan Bridge, 9 of us headed up Leck Beck on a beautiful bright warm morning.  Keeping close to the stream we soon left the fields behind and got into the rough country around Ease Gill.  The waterfalls and the way the water has worn the rock is really impressive.  The higher we got the wilder the terrain, forcing us to cross from side to side of the beck continually.  The source of the gill is almost on the summit of Great Coum where we arrived after some hard walking.

From there the afternoon was an easy stroll along the ridge to Gragareth but with great views all around the compass. From Gragareth summit we descended down Ireby Fell into the village, and returned to Cowan Bridge along field paths.

Thank's Sue for a classic walk with a very hard morning but easy afternoon.  Certainly a walk to do again.
