HEBDEN BRIDGE

Hebden Bridge Walk; 23rd September 2012

With Ian injured, Doreen kindly stepped in to fill the breach and led our small group of 7, out of Hebden Bridge and steeply up through the woods below Heptonstall Quarry. We then continued through Slack and past Walshaw Dean and Top Withens to our lunch stop above Bronte Bridge.

With rain forecast for later and our eyes on thickening clouds, Doreen led us over Penistone Hill and Top of Stair to Horse Bridge. It was here where our race against the rain seemed to be lost as rain fell and we had to don waterproofs. Not for long though, as it was only a shower and our walk back the finish was mainly in the dry.

A very enjoyable 18 mile walk and thanks to Doreen for standing in at short notice.
