This walk commenced from the beautiful West Riding village of Slaidburn. From the village center it followed the River Hodder through farmland to Hammerton Hall where the old disused railway path which runs below Hammerton Moor to the east of Stocks Reservoir was taken. This was followed through to The Causeway and into the edge of Gisburn Forest. 

Lunch was taken in the picnic site by the remains of the old Stocks In Bowland village church. 

After lunch the group continued north west through the forest to Lower Clough and New Ho at the head of the Reservoir before crossing the River Hodder near Collyholme Wood and picking up another of the disused railway paths to the west of the Reservoir. 

This path was followed back to the embankment of the southern end of the Reservoir before the group retraced its steps back along the path of the Hodder into the village.

A very welcome post walk visit was made to the Upper Buck pub in Waddington for much needed refreshments. 

A fantastic walk in a stunning area with views enhanced by the lovely August sunshine.
