Haslingden

Walk Leader   -   John Meller

Distance   -   7.2 miles

Number on walk   -   33

Weather   -   Excellent walking weather.  No rain and quite mild.

The walk started from the Griffin Inn in Haslingden which is the home of the Rossendale Brewery which sells a varied selection of its own real ales.  The licensee Alejandro was on the walk.

The 33 walkers comprised mainly LDWA members together with a number of retired police officers and several Griffin regulars.

We left the Griffin & after a short distance we picked up the Hyndburn to Stubbins Cycle path, which took us up to Grane Road. From Grane Road we proceeded to Holden Wood Reservoir. A slight gradient walk to Riley's farm, then downhill to Holcombe Road, Helmshore, where we picked up the cycle path to take us back to Grane Road then back to the Griffin.  A moderate walk with relatively little height gain and easy paths.

The walk was enjoyed by all.

After the walk Alejandro very kindly put on excellent food for all the walkers.  The majority of them also sampled some of his fine beers.
