This circular walk commenced in the beautiful North Yorkshire village of Stainforth. The initial section of the walk involved a steep climb from the Ribble Valley through woods to Upper Winskill. A farm track was then followed to a minor road which was taken to the base of Knowe Fell. The path to the trig point of Knowe Fell was followed from which stunning views across to Malham Tarn were enjoyed. A little used path to the summit to Fountains Fell was then taken along which some amazing views of the incredibly unspoiled area around Darnbrook Fell were very much appreciated. 

Lunch was taken on the summit of Fountains Fell which at 568 Meters provided a full 360 degree vista of the area.

From the summit the Pennine Way path was taken down into the Overdale valley below Pen Y Ghent which looked so impressive in the Yorkshire sunshine. 

The lane to Churn Milk Hole was followed before a turn back to the south for the final decent into Stainforth.

A truly magnificent walk in a truly lovely area.
