We set off east following the path down past Ward’s Reservoir.  We then skirted the back of Belmont turning west following the path up past Hoar Stones Brow to Horden Stoops. After crossing the source of the Yarrow we followed the path past Higher and Lower  Hempshaw’s  round to Simms. It was here where we met a group of young ladies out doing their bronze Duke of Edinburgh training. We met quite a few groups during the day. We crossed the Yarrow and climbed up to pass through some woods before coming out at Wilcock’s Farm. We then dropped down past Dean Wood nature reserve into Rivington.

We stopped at the tea rooms for a well-deserved lunch. 

After lunch we climbed up through Rivington Terraced gardens to Rivington Pike Tower. Great views from here today.

It was then on to Pike cottage and then up to Two Lads where we stopped to take in the views again. We then followed the newly laid flagged path up to Winter Hill before dropping down steeply over rough ground to our cars.

Great walk and great company.
