The aim of today's walk was to get the 3 trig points which are in the vicinity of Ball Grove nature reserve on the outskirts of Colne. We set off following Colne Water to reach Laneshaw Bridge where we picked up a section of the Pendle / Lancashire Way. After all the rain we have had the fields were quite soggy which made the pull up to the Pennine bridleway much harder than it should be. However, the going got easier as we continued along this to reach our first trig, Knarr Hill. A track and road brought us to the pub at Black Lane ends where we started a climb over the moors to Harwes farm.

It was an out and back on a narrow, undefined and rather wet path to Kelbrook, trig point number two. Lunch was taken in a dilapidated old barn, not the best spot but at least we were under cover and David managed to make himself quite comfortable on a sack of, well, I don't know of what, best not to find out maybe. More moorland walking along Great Edge before descending to Noyna End Farm then a bit of quiet lane next and a few fields and we reached the final trig point, Lower Hill. Now it was downhill to the main road to reach the old Almshouses where we turned left back to the car park.
