3 Peaks of Yorkshire 3rd September 2023

8 (plus a lovely dog) started and 8 (plus lovely dog) finished, all well within the 12 hours required to become members of the 3 Peaks of Yorkshire club.

Two of the party, I’m very please to say, finished it for the first time ever, and one for the first time in 20 years. I’ve been doing the 3 peaks for over 20 years so it was good to discuss the differences in the route over that time.
We started in mist at Ribblehead, which made the viaduct very atmospheric. Whernside was completed in low cloud . We also had s slight mist on the top of inglebourough, but the cloud cover helped us with the climbing and before we knew it, had done 2 of the 3 peaks. Then the sun came out and we had glorious sunshine all the way out to Horton-in-Ribbledale and back to Ribblehead passing over Pen-y-Ghent.

The walk back from Pen-y-Ghent was a delight, it was a lovely afternoon walk, in wonderful weather, looking out over all the country and hills we had walked through.. After finishing four of us sat in the beer garden in beer garden of the Station Inn at Ribblehead and enjoyed a well earned drink in beautiful surroundings.
