Distance:               16.8 miles

Weather:               Dry, quite windy at times

Driving along the M6 with the rain chucking it down it seemed like we were in for another soggy day but the weather gods looked down favourably on us and by the time we reached Cinderbarrow, the start of the walk, it had stopped and we had a fine, dry day with sunshine albeit it with some pretty strong winds at times. We made our way via Hanging Hill to Burton in Kendal and then through Clawthorpe before picking up the canal which we followed for a couple of miles. After climbing up Puddlemire Lane we then started the ascent of Farleton Fell and had our lunch stop just below the summit.

The original plan was to use the Potslacks track to the trig point on Hutton Roof but after our recce when we found the bracken and undergrowth was so high that we could have used a machete to bash through it, we decided to use the Kelker Well path to Hutton Roof village instead. We had an afternoon stop in Plain Quarry and the final few miles took us through Henridding and Dalton Old Hall before reaching our cars back at Cinderbarrow.
