Sabden

Walk Leader: Glyn Watson

Number on walk: 2

Distance: 12 miles

Weather: Cold Misty and Foggy

Only 2 walkers for this walk. It was a foggy and cold morning with flurries of snow. As part of the route had thawed and muddy a diversion was taken that reduced the mileage from the original 14 to 12. From Sabden we climbed up the south flank of Pendle to the Nick path then onto the Clerk Hill track down through a herd of Fresian cattle (yes outside in December.... ) looking hungry and cold. Then onto Whalley when it suddenly turned very cold as the fog lifted. Through the Nab where lunch was taken then passing Read Garden Centre and on to the tops above Read Hall and dropped back to Sabden (more cattle... this time Highlander's). Getting back nice and early at 14.30pm before the roads iced up, though the drive back on the A59 was blizzard conditions.
