Stocks Reservoir to Crutchenber Fell

Walk Leader: Ian & Karen

Number on walk: 10

Distance: 13.5 miles

Weather: Not too hot so perfect for walking

Leaving Stocks reservoir car park our first challenge was to make our way through Gisburn Forrest. Footpaths are not well marked and very indistinct, so we were very reliant on our leader. As we emerged from the eastern side of the forest Whelp Stone Crag came in to view which we climbed. The views across Bowland and Yorkshire were quite stunning so we decided to stop here for our 11's. We continued to head east making our way to Scoutber Crag which we skirted on our way to Cross Hills. We were now back on very rough ground, but we decided to set off over Badger Moss in the direction of Resting Stone following sheep tracks where possible. At Resting Stone we stopped for our well earned lunch looking out across to Settle and beyond. It was then on to Crutchenber Fell via the Lancashire Yorkshire boundary crossing Rock Cat Knot, Knotteranum and Bowland Knotts. As we approached Crutchenber Fell we came across some of Neil's Lancashire Way markers so he must be passing through here on his next walk. The views from the trig point were again fantastic so it was certainly worth the visit.  A good day's walking, we had 2 100 walkers, Ian and Jaqui, well done!
