Distance 10 miles

Weather Excellent

A 09:30 start from Plain Quarry car park on Dalton Lane Burton in Kendal, 13 walkers and 3 dogs set off through the woods and across the Clawthorpe Estate, which took us to the Lancaster canal at the very pretty canalside hamlet of Sheernest. Then northwards along the canal past Holme , where we left the canal and then under the M6 and along a very busy A6070 for ½ a mile then on to Holmepark Fell for an early lunch break.

After lunch we carried on over the fell crossing a road onto Hutton Roof Crags which we skirted the northern edge of, down into the village of Hutton Roof, we then followed the southern edge of Hutton Roof Crags back onto Dalton Lane and thence back to the car park.

A thoroughly enjoyable day, weather was terrific and the conditions underfoot where very good.
