Pudding Plod 14.12.19

Walk Leaders: Glyn and Julie Watson

No on walk: 18

Distance: 6 miles

Weather: Sleet, hail and rain showers - very festive!

The group assembled for a 9.30am start in light rain and the cold. We left the carpark and headed north east up past Clerk Hill Hall and towards the Nick of Pendle on a reasonable track. I explained that Jepp Knave's grave was on the top of Wiswell Moor and plans to walk up were put on hold due to the weather.... an interesting story if you look up how he met his end.... perhaps one for the dry summer..

At the Nick we were treated with Christmas Cheer by our Chairman Neil and after a short time made our way down on the Pendleton Path. At Wymondhouses we cut across 100 metres of rough muddy ground, and made our way to Cold Coats Farm then on the road to Wiswell where directions were provided to the 'hidden; Freemason's Pub.

Up a steep pull we them made our way through Deer Wood and the extra 100 metres of mud (honest) where the leader slipped into the mud at the deepest point and cursed.... perhaps a missing '0' on the 200 mtrs.... back on the ridge of the hill with good views and through Clerk Hill House drive we made our way back in good time for Julia's home cooked Christmas Meal....

I cannot finish without thanking all who joined the group and enjoyed a superb meal ..... and what good value at £15 for 3 courses tea/coffee and home made mince pies....a good judge of the day was that it was one hour after the meal before anyone thought of going home....

Cheers to a good end to 2019.
