The Huncoat Trail

Walk Leader:             Harry B

Number on the walk:  15

Distance:                     9.1 miles

Weather:                   Fine and sunny

Unfortunately a slight wrong turn at the start of the 9.1 walk meant that  fifteen intrepid members had no option but to return to the starting point within the first half hour!!

However, everyone seemed to keep a brave face and despite one or two more minor navigational hiccups everyone was of good cheer and seemed to enjoy themselves.
The route took us from Huncoat Village Centre travelling east to cross the M65  then along the canal to just outside Padiham and then from there to Windy Harbour Quarries where lunch was taken.

After lunch it was a short trip downhill  taking in Peel Park Monument and then onwards returning to our  starting point arriving just after 2pm.

Throughout  the day the sun shone and apart from a little mud the weather conditions remained kind.
I must express my thanks and appreciation to David Whittaker for his help and meticulous pre route planning without which the day would not have been possible. Photos can be seen 'here'
