Heapey Hobble

Walk Leader:  John Clarke

Number on walk: 13 plus 2 dogs

Distance: 13.5 miles

Weather: Light rain at the start, then dry, mainly sunny conditions for the remainder of the day.

The route from Heapey took us past the site of the old Talbot Spinning Mill and onto the Wigan to Lancaster canal at Bagganley. The canal was followed until Duxbury where we turned towards Heath Charnock, crossing the railway, Long Lane and Back Lane before reaching the Anglezarke Reservoir. The walk then took us alongside this and the Upper Rivington Reservoir to our lunch stop in Rivington. Post lunch a visit was paid to Liverpool Castle before our journey back through Rivington village and a climb up to the fell above the Yarrow Reservoir. After a short section along Parsons Bullough Lane we followed the path to High Bullough Reservoir and onto White Coppice. After a short stop we took the path alongside the Heapey Lodges back to the start point.
