Sabden Brook Bluebell Walk

Walk Leader:         Glyn

Number on Walk:   19 (and 2 dogs)

Distance:               10.5 miles

Weather:               Glorious Sunshine

The walk commenced at Sabden P&D car park having taken the register and lunch orders (food and drink)..... Sixteen plumped for fish and chips... The group quickly walked up above Sabden and joined the bridal way to the Nick of Pendle. Views were superb to the West and as the mobile had a signal, forward notice was given to the chippy (requesting no discount but the freshest best fish for all please)... Following the Lancashire Way we made our way to Clerk Hill where a short break was had overlooking Whalley on to the Nab to the West. Lunch was confirmed with a pickup time agreed for 12 noon. Making our way beside Whalley Golf Club the group skirted Spring Wood and into Whalley. Lunch was picked up paid for and three sherpers carried it up the Nab to join the group assembled at a viewing point looking East up the Ribble Valley. With the food a selection of Dark Beer, Sauvigion Blanc and Rioja was provided (lightning the load of the leader) and a 30 minute call was made to enable the large (and excellent lunch and all drink) to be taken.

Setting off all were in good spirits and many saying the Fish and Chips were the best ever (suspect the walk to the Nab and the drink swayed the opinion). Following the Nab route the group followed the track beside the Garden Centre and up towards Reed Hall passing many Wisteria in bloom. Stopping at the 'Ice building' we regrouped and liquid (water and tea) was taken. Onwards we strode up to the South ridge (through a bloom of greenfly) above Sabden; one walker diverted off home and the remainder then dropped down to the village for 2.45pm.

Hope all enjoyed the walk and some as promised maybe revisit the Whalley Chip Shop for a second opinion.....
