Tuesday 16th April

Walk Leader:  Harry Bretherton

No on walk:     12

Distance:         10 miles

Weather:         Dry for most of the day

The walk started from the car park at Freeport Shopping Centre and continued following the coastal path and finished outside the North Pier.

The weather was temperate and initially contrary to the weather forecast the sun did its best to ‘break through’ the clouds. Unfortunately, although dry for the best part of the route the rain appeared just after lunch, which was taken in one of the many convenient shelters overlooking the sea front.

Those who have not been to the Fylde Coast recently were presently surprised by the infrastructure and points of interest that have been added to this part of the coast.

Including a Giant Cement Ogre (with red eyes) embedded in the sand, along with a six feet long wooden paddle to paddle his boat

Half way along the route we were joined by Jacki Peake who armed with her local knowledge and childhood memories was able to point out and explain points of interest. Hopefully a good day was had by all 12 participants along our 10 mile meander
