Whitewell 29th May 18

Walk Leader: John T

Number on walk: 13

Distance: 10.5 miles

A brilliant walk on a brilliant day. We set off from the Inn at Whitewell and crossed the River Hodder via the stepping stones. We then crossed very colourful fields full of wild flowers on our climb up to the woods at Whitemore. We passed through these woods and then climbed up onto Mellor Knoll from where there were stunning views of this beautiful area.

From here we steadily dropped dawn to Hareden farm and then on to Dunsop Bridge, the centre of the UK. We stopped here for lunch before moving on following the Hodder which we crossed via a very precarious wire bridge which certainly did swing!

We then crossed Giddy Bridge on our way up to Hodder Bank Fell which we crossed on a well defined path.

From here we dropped down to join the Hodder again which we followed back to the Inn at Whitewell where we stopped for a very enjoyable drink before setting off home.
