Leader:- John E

No on walk:- 11

Distance:-  Just under 13 mls

Weather:- Morning Showers Fine Afternoon

As part of Celebrating 40 years of West Lancs LDWA, the walk took in some sections of the Original Whittle Wander. 11 members set off from Botany Bay to head up Healey Nab, (very muddy after 2 days of heavy rain). Then a road section took us to White Coppice, after a morning brew came the rain ?. Walking beside the Goit then up through Brinscall Woods, then taking the Nature Trail to Withnell, lunch being taken at the Church. Crossing Pike Lowe past the reindeer farm to the Leeds Liverpool canal.

A few more wet fields took us to Top o'th' Lane then a diversion to the Trig above the quarry to take in the splendid views. Crossing the motorway into Whittle-le -Woods then through John Rennie's aqueduct and the tunnel under the motorway where the River Lostock runs under the floor. Passing Johnsons Hillock along Dark Lane returning to the canal and Botany Bay.

John.
