The Walk:-

Walk leaders Clare and Steve McNeill.

Weather - glorious
Scenery- magnificent
Company- great
Walk- 10.33 miles- phew relief!
A group of 20 set off from good old Barley car park. The 4 dogs were blessed with lavender oil- hopefully to keep the ticks  off. We went through Barley Green by the new and exclusive water board property. We wended our way up past Lower and Upper Ogden reservoirs making our way through Boar Clough onto the summit. Back down the front of Pendle avoiding the steps into Barley for lunch. Fully refreshed (bar Ste who'd left his sandwiches in the fridge- honest I did share mine with him!) thereafter walking through Overhouses, round the back of Lower Black Moss reservoir adjacent to Aitken Wood (where the Lancashire witches gathered and prepared their potions - see Mist over Pendle) and along the eastern side of Upper Black Moss reservoir towards Black Moss road. Continuing on the road to the junction and turning right to Roughlee. Blackberries for pudding on the way down. Regrouping at the Bay Horse Inn. Homage to Alice Nutter's statue. Turning right along the path to meet the Pendle Way via Thorney Holme and through Stacks Wood back to the car park.

Ps. Thank you to John Crook for sharing his wife's Courgette and Lime Cake recipe.

Thanks to Steve and Clare for leading an excellent walk (their first for our group) and to Clare for sending me this report.

Stan.
