Chipping, July 12th

Thirteen group members met up atChipping for this walk led by Jean. The weather the day before had been absolutely awful with non-stop rain all day so it was decided to go to plan B and descend to Bleasdale after reaching Fiendsdale Head instead of risking crossing the streams, which would have been in spate, near Langden Castle. We left Chipping passing through the camping barn on the way  to Parlick. After a steep ascent we turned right on the good path which by-passes the summit and continued on to arrive at the newly constructed shelter at Paddy's Pole where we stopped for coffee.

The walk along the top from Fairsnape to Fiendsdale didn't take too long and we were able to avoid most of the worst sections of peat hags. Descending now we continued on the road to Bleasdale where we turned right passing the old packhorse bridge near brooks Barn and carried on to our lunch stop at St. Eadmer's Church. Afterwards we used field paths to reach Blindhurst farm where the farmer kindly let us walk through the sheep which were all penned in waiting to be put into his wagon. We then followed the well used route to Wolfen Hall continuing, after an afternoon stop in the sunshine, to Saddle End Farm and  Burnslack before getting back to Chipping about 4.15pm after a good walk with the weather having been kind to us all day.
