The Walk:-

Walk leader - Dave Taylor.

Another good turnout saw 21 walkers gather in Barley on a very pleasant morning for a 10 mile walk, not going over Pendle this time, but heading out towards Weets Hill.  From Barley a stony track lead us past the two Black Moss Reservoirs and on to Mountain Farm and Firber House.  We then had to cross a wet Rimington Moor, with great views across the Ribble Valley and to the Yorkshire 3 peaks, before dropping down to the Whytha Road.  We followed this past the historic Middop Hall to cross the A682 and continue to Coal Pit Lane.  A lack of concentration saw me turn off the road early and add half a mile or so to the walk, but back on track we soon reached our lunch stop at Weets House Farm.

Descending Gisburn Old Road to Star Hall we picked up the Pendle Way through Admergill, crossing Wheathead Lane and skirting Brown Hill to pass through White Hough and Narrow gates back to Barley at 3.00pm.

With the diversion the walk was a little longer than planned at 11.5 miles. Thanks to everybody who turned up and especially to Stan for taking the photos.

Dave.

Thanks Dave sending me this report and for leading an excellent walk on a perfect day for walking.

Stan.
