Beacon Fell, Tuesday May 17th

17 members set out from the Beacon Fell Visitors Centre lower car park in bright sunny weather.  The route went down to Crombleholme Fold, across the fields to Fellside following their track to the road where we turned right to the  ‘Cross Keys Inn' still under renovation.  We then crossed the fields to Inglewhite via Ryeheads and Higher Barker.

We crossed the green in Inglewhite to take the footpath through the farmyard opposite. After a couple of fields and Scotch Green we headed for our first view of the bluebell woods in all their glory.

We continued to New Bridge  at Brock Side where we joined the River Brock  following it  to Walmsley Bridge  before stopping for our lunch soon after. We noted the destruction of the banks caused by the winter storms.  Some areas had new sections of path installed with the old sections blocked off because it was non existant in parts - hard to believe when the River was so low now.

At Brock Mill we headed for Lower and Middle Lickhust and  then towards Heatherway before turning up onto Beacon Fell back to the cars. It was good to see so many out in shorts and tee shirts.
