Walk from Crookfield

Another good turnout of 22 people and 3 dogs  set out from Crookfield car park on a grey, but dry and mild, late October morning for this walk led by John Crook.  We followed part of the Tacklers Trail section of the Witton Weavers Way up past the Mildred Barker seat and continuing on passing the ruined Sugar Leach. Making good progress we soon arrived at Darwen Tower where a few climbed to the top before descending to Sunnyhurst Woods, which looked lovely with all the autumn colours, and our lunch stop by the lake.

After lunch we walked through these woods and up Donkey Brew eventually descending into the equally lovely Roddlesworth Woods resplendent with glorious autumn colours. After an uphill stretch we continued through Hollinshead Hall and back to the cars in good time and  just before the rain came down.
