Scottish Week, May 12th - 19th, 2014

Twelve members and guests enjoyed an excellent week's walking based at Craggantoul House, Loch Tay. John Bennet once again organised superb accommodation with excellent facilities and a view to die for, and Kate organised food for breakfast and packed lunches, making everything run smoothly. The weather was kind for most of the week, although the waterproofs were able to prove their worth on Saturday. The walking was splendid, with plenty of options within a short drive from Craggantoul, and a total of 90 Munros were collected between the twelve of us, plus an assortment of Corbetts and Marilyns. Highlights included the beautiful Tarmachan Ridge, a round of Meall a Chore Leith and Meall Corranaich, the excellent round from Glen Lyon of Carn Gorm, Meall Garbh, Carn Mairg and Meall nan Aighean and the long (damp) Ben Lawers round. Besides walking, some people visited the Crannog Centre.

John's pre-trip research had included not only the mountains but also the best local watering holes so it was a treat to come off the hill and enjoy some very good local ales. It was a most enjoyable week. The photos were all taken by Pauline (apart from the one of her!!)
