Blubberhouses - Sat. 26 April 14

Blubberhouses - Saturday 26th. April 2014

Six of us left the car park at the head of  Fewston Reservoir on one of those dull, drizzly, dank sort of mornings, which make you wish you’d stayed in bed. To cap it all we walked 50 yards or so then….Ooooops! ..‘We’re on the wrong path!’ Second time lucky and spot on this time, as we headed down the northern side of the reservoir to cross the embankment and continue down the south west side of Swinsty  reservoir. The route then followed the River Washburn down to Lindley Wood Reservoir, where the bluebells were coming to their peak.  All the time the weather was improving and as we stopped for a short coffee break, our waterproofs were finally stored and shorts worn by those with enough confidence in the weather forecast to have brought them along.

We were now heading west through Clifton and on to Askwith, where we swung north crossing Askwith Moor, then picking up field paths to return us to our cars at Blubberhouses

An relatively easy round of about 17 miles, starting on dull wet morning and finishing on a warm sunny afternoon. Thanks Dave.
