AROUND LEYLAND

           Tuesday 14th May        Around Leyland

Ten walkers and two dogs set of from Terry's bungalow on the outskirts of Leyland, the weather was very good for walking, sunny most of the time with a slight breeze, considering all the rain previously.

Within minutes we reached river Lostock, turning south along a green corridor of trees for a couple of miles, then west past Malt Kiln farm and down track past an old Government WWII underground storage for TNT ammunition and bombs for the war effort, which is now pasture for the local farmers.   Around the back of Wymott and Garth prison, down a country lane back to the river Lostock, turning east across fields, following the river, where we had lunch next to a babbling brook.

Eventually reaching Altcar Lane and farm, into the back of Worden Park, bluebells galore, around the hall, craft centre, gardens and the ice house, through the woods, eventually back to the River Lostock and back the way we came.

Arriving back for tea coffee and cake, made by Clare, a very good walk, 11 miles, enjoyed by all.

Thanks Terry for a good walk.
